Tanba Kuro(Black Soybeans) are widely known as an ingredient that is indispensable in Osechi (Special dishes prepared for New Years in Japan).

Tanba Kuro have been presented to the courts and the shogunates since ancient times. There are documents remaining from that a land tax that was paid for with a quantity of black soybeans. Now, it is produced in Hyogo, and also across Western Japan.
